BULLETIN BOARD

This is a NON-Paid event, but is sponsored by those who do pay you for the games you do get paid for so please consider volunteering. In past years the umpires who have, received more than they could imagine.

Dear Umpires,

Whether you've been a part of Special Olympics Minnesota in the past or this is the first time the opportunity has presented itself, please consider helping at Special Olympics Minnesota's Fall Games for the hundreds of athletes participating this year.

We are now recruiting volunteer softball umpires for Fall Games 2008 which will take place Aug. 16-17 at Maple Grove Junior High in Maple Grove. Please see attachment for more information.

If you are available to help, we would love to have you there! Umpire volunteer shifts are specified and require softball knowledge; however, we encourage you to sign up friends and family in any of the additional open shifts listed on the website at http://www.specialolympicsminnesota.org/Fall_Games.php.

Upon sending the form in, we will plan on your attendance during the shift(s) you indicate. We will contact you as soon as possible if the shift you have signed up for is full. Most of the volunteer positions are filled on a first come-first serve basis, so turn your form in early! Confirmation letters with a map and additional details will be sent out to you a week and half to two weeks before the event.

The Wayzata High School field is hard to find as it can not be seen from the school parking lot.
If you could get a message to your umps to drive in the main entrance and park by the football stadium. They will see a paved path at the East end of the football field that leads past the flag pole and into the woods. That path goes to the Freshman field.

The location of Hawks Memorial field is directly behind the Hamel downtown buildings. So behind the Inn Kahoots and Post Office. The main street is torn up, so to get to field the umpire will need to come from the East on Hamel Road or up Sioux Drive from the North.
